Maghrèb e Mashrèq

Maghrèb e Mashrèq

FROM THE ARAB CRESCENT TO THE NORTH AFRICAN MEDITERRANEAN

Ziad Trabelsi, Emanuele Bultrin, Simone Pulvano

PRODUCTION CENTER OF Toscana

Songs from the Arab world in a soundscape evoking the dimension of ritual and the traditional through languages and cultures that have influenced the Maghreb and the Mashreq of the Mediterranean over the centuries, from antiquity to the present day.
The Arabic traces scattered everywhere in western music, particularly in that of the Mediterranean area, remind us of the power of musical language. Of mixing, spreading and transforming itself spontaneously without coercion.

ZIAD TRABELSI

Oud wtar

Ziad Trabelsi is a member of the Orchestra di Piazza Vittorio.
He is an academically trained Tunisian musician who has maintained close ties with his country’s more overtly popular musical tradition.

An excellent ud soloist, singer and composer, he is naturally attracted to the sonorities of western music and the sonic alchemies that arise from the encounter between musicians from different latitudes. The result is a project of traditional music, and research, with a strong rhythmic impact, between improvisation and contamination.
