An historic encounter specially updated by Insulae Lab after twenty years of absence from the national and international scenes and a tribute to the fifty-year career of the pianist and accordionist Antonello Salis, one of the most influential artists on the international jazz scene with the contribution of selected friends who have shared his path of the last decades. The Meta Quartet is a shared project that makes use of two musicians of Sardinian origins such as Riccardo Lai and Sandro Satta, music and life partners, and the drummer Fabrizio Sferra, one of the most creative Italian artists.

Me’Ta Quartet was born as an extension of the CADMO progressive jazz group founded by Salis, Lay, Paliano Cult formation in the 70s. After the dissolution of the Trio, Antonello Salis and Riccardo Lay first give life to the GRA with Sandro Satta and the late trombonist Danilo Terenzi. At the beginning of the 90s, after various individual experiences of jazz musicians, the ME’TA Quartet was turned on, with Fabrizio Sferra on drums. They participate in numerous Italian and European festivals. Their music encompasses the presence of various tendencies of musical languages from ancestral to contemporary melodies, from ethnic music flowing into the great circle of jazz. From this meeting the CD “Sintesi” (Via Veneto Jazz) was recorded, the only record of the Quartet. The Me’Ta Quartet is characterized by progressive transformation, by history, by legends told in music, by extemporaneousness… Diversity as a fusion theme that binds the musicians, an interpretation of a freedom that becomes absolute, never a painting fixed but a state of mind that unites everyone in a current composition and interpretation. Every concert is a new life.
